That is, it enables you to run 68k MacOS software on you computer, even if you are using a different operating system. However, you still need a copy of MacOS and a Macintosh ROM image to use Basilisk II (of course MacOS and Mac ROM are not included in this package). Some features of Basilisk II: - Emulates either a Mac Classic (which runs MacOS 0.x thru 7.5) or a Mac II series machine (which runs MacOS 7.x, 8.0 and 8.1), depending on the ROM being used - Color video display - CD quality sound output - Floppy disk driver (only 1.44MB disks supported) - Driver for HFS partitions and hardfiles - CD-ROM driver with basic audio functions - Easy file exchange with the host OS via a "Host Directory Tree" icon on the Mac desktop - Ethernet driver - Serial drivers - SCSI Manager (old-style) emulation - Emulates extended ADB keyboard and 3-button mouse This version also features a JIT ("Just In Time") compiler, which speeds up the emulator by a factor of 10-15x with respect to the plain version.
bochs 2.0.2 LGPL Bochs Project x86 PC Emulator Bochs is a portable x86 PC emulation software package that emulates enough of the x86 CPU, related AT hardware, and BIOS to run DOS, Windows '95, Minix 2.0, and other OS's, all on your workstation.
bochs-dlxlinux 2.0.2 LGPL Small GNU/Linux distrib for Bochs project x86 PC emulator Bochs is a portable x86 PC emulation software package that emulates enough of the x86 CPU, related AT hardware, and BIOS to run DOS, Windows '95, Minix 2.0, and other OS's, all on your workstation.
dosbox 0.61 GPL A DOS emulator DOSBox is an emulator of a PC with dos. The main focus of this project is emulating old dos games using the local file system for files. dosemu 1.2.0 GPL DOSEMU stands for DOS Emulation, and enables Linux to run DOS programs DOSEMU is a user-level program which uses certain special features of the Linux kernel and the 80386 processor to run MS-DOS/FreeDOS/ DR-DOS, DOS programs, and many DPMI applications in what we in the biz call a `DOS box'.
dosemu-freedos 1.2.0 GPL A FreeDOS hdimage for dosemu, a DOS emulator, to use. Generally, the dosemu DOS emulator requires either that your system have some version of DOS available or that your system's partitions were formatted and installed with DOS. If your system does not meet either of the previous requirements, you can instead use the dosemu- freedos package, which contains an hdimage file which will be installed in the /var/lib/dosemu directory. The hdimage file is already bootable with FreeDOS. You will need to edit your /etc/dosemu.conf file to add the image to the list of disk 'drives' used by dosemu. Install dosemu-freedos if you are installing the dosemu package and you don't have a version of DOS available on your system, and your system's partitions were not formatted and installed with DOS.
fuse 0.6.1.1 GPL The Free Unix Spectrum Emulator (Fuse) What Fuse does have: * Working 16K/48K/128K/+2/+2A/+3 Speccy, Timex TC2048/TC2068 and Pentagon 128 emulation, running at true Speccy speed on any computer you're likely to try it on. * Support for loading from .tzx files. * Sound (on systems supporting the Open Sound System, something like OpenBSD or Solaris's /dev/audio, or SDL). * Kempston joystick emulation. * Emulation of some of the printers you could attach to a Spectrum. * Support for the RZX input recording file format, including `competition mode'. What Fuse doesn't have: * Emulation of any other peripherals (bar the tape deck) * ...
fuse-utils 0.6.1 GPL The Fuse utilities are a few tools to deal with ZX Spectrum emulator files The available utilities are: * listbasic: list the BASIC in a snapshot or tape file. * rzxcheck: verify the digital signature in an RZX file. * rzxdump: list the contents of an RZX input recording file. * rzxtool: add, extract or remove the embedded snapshot from an RZX file, or compress or uncompress the file. * scl2trd: convert .scl disk images to .trd disk images. * snapconv: convert between snapshot formats. * tapeconv: convert between .tzx and .tap files. * tzxlist: list the contents of a TZX file.
kernel-uml-2.4-2.4.22-2mdk 1 GPL The user mode linux kernel User-Mode Linux is a safe, secure way of running Linux versions and Linux processes. Run buggy software, experiment with new Linux kernels or distributions, and poke around in the internals of Linux, all without risking your main Linux setup. User-Mode Linux gives you a virtual machine that may have more hardware and software virtual resources than your actual, physical computer. Disk storage for the virtual machine is entirely contained inside a single file on your physical machine. You can assign your virtual machine only the hardware access you want it to have. With properly limited access, nothing you do on the virtual machine can change or damage your real computer, or its software.

qemu 0.5.0 GPL QEMU CPU Emulator QEMU is a FAST! processor emulator. By using dynamic translation it achieves a reasonnable speed while being easy to port on new host CPUs. QEMU has two operating modes: * User mode emulation. In this mode, QEMU can launch Linux processes compiled for one CPU on another CPU. Linux system calls are converted because of endianness and 32/64 bit mismatches. Wine (Windows emulation) and DOSEMU (DOS emulation) are the main targets for QEMU. * Full system emulation. In this mode, QEMU emulates a full system, including a processor and various peripherials. Currently, it is only used to launch an x86 Linux kernel on an x86 Linux system. It enables easier testing and debugging of system code. It can also be used to provide virtual hosting of several virtual PC on a single server.
SheepShaver 2.2 GPL An Open Source PowerMac emulator SheepShaver is a MacOS run-time environment for BeOS and Linux that allows you to run classic MacOS applications inside the Linux multitasking environment. This means that both Linux and MacOS applications can run at the same time (usually in a window on the Linux desktop). If you are using a PowerPC-based system, applications will run at native speed (i.e. with no emulation involved). There is also a built-in PowerPC 7400 emulator, without MMU support, for non-PowerPC systems. Some features of SheepShaver: - SheepShaver runs MacOS 7.5.2 thru MacOS 8.6 - Copy and paste text between MacOS and the host OS (X11 clipboard) - File exchange with the host OS via a "Unix" icon on the Mac desktop - Color video display with support for runtime resolution switching - CD-quality stereo sound output (with pre-G3 PowerMac PCI ROMs) - Networking: SheepShaver supports Internet and LAN networking via Ethernet and PPP with all Open Transport compatible MacOS applications (on 32-bit big endian systems at this time)
uae 0.8.25 GPL A software emulation of the Amiga system UAE is a software emulation of the Amiga system hardware, which enables you to run most available Amiga software. Since it is a software emulation, no extra or special hardware is needed. The Amiga hardware is emulated accurately, so that Amiga software is tricked into thinking it is running on the real thing. Your computer's display, keyboard, hard disk and mouse assume the roles of their emulated counterparts. Note that to fully emulate the Amiga you need the Amiga KickStart ROM images, which are copyrighted and, of course, not included here.
