Mandriva 2007.0 - Archiving|Cd_burning

cdlabelgen 3.6.0GPLProgram for generating frontcards and traycards for CDs
cdlabelgen is a program for generating frontcards and traycards for CDs. Use it to make labels for your archive CDs, CDs full of oggs, or even make a label for that CD that you lost the case for! This package is used by the gcombust frontend to cd burning.
cdrdao-gcdmaster 1.2.1GPLGraphical front end to cdrdao for composing audio CDs
gcdmaster allows the creation of toc-files for cdrdao and can control the recording process. Its main application is the composition of audio CDs from one or more audio files. It supports PQ-channel editing, entry of meta data like ISRC codes/CD-TEXT and non destructive cut of the audio data.
cdrdao 1.2.1GPLCdrdao - Write audio CD-Rs in disk-at-once mode
Writes audio CD-Rs in disc-at-once (DAO) mode allowing control over pre-gaps (length down to 0, nonzero audio data) and sub-channel information like ISRC codes. All data that is written to the disc must be specified with a text file. Audio data may be in WAVE or raw format.
cdrecord-isotools 2.01.01GPLCollection of ISO files related tools
isodebug isodump isoinfo isovfy
cdrecord 2.01.01GPLA command line CD/DVD-Recorder
Cdrecord allows you to create CDs on a CD-Recorder (SCSI/ATAPI). Supports data, audio, mixed, multi-session and CD+ discs etc.
dvd+rw-tools 6.1GPLTools for burning on DVD+RW compliant burner
As for cdrecord[-ProDVD]. DVD+RW/+R recording strategy is somewhat different from one supported by cdrecord. DVD+RW (but not DVD+R) is a true random write access media and therefore is suitable for housing of arbitrary filesystem, e.g. udf, vfat, ext2, etc. This, and this alone, qualifies DVD+RW support for kernel implementation. Even though modified kernel can let you put for example an ext2 filesystem on DVD+RW, it's probably not very practical, because you most likely want to access the data on arbitrary computer. Or in other words you most likely want ISO9660.
gcombust 0.1.55GPLGcombust is a burning cd frontend
gcombust is a gtk+ frontend for mkisofs, mkhybrid, cdrecord and cdlabelgen. It's written in C. It has primitive support for controlling the directory (root) structure and size of image without copying files/symlinking or writing 10 lines of arguments and can maximize disk by hinting which directories/files to use.
k3b-dvd 0.12.17GPLk3b with DVD support
K3b with requires for dvd
k3b 0.12.17GPLCD-Burner for KDE
K3b is CD-writing software which intends to be feature-rich and provide an easily usable interface. Features include burning audio CDs from .WAV and .MP3 audio files, configuring external programs and configuring devices.
mkisofs 2.01.01GPLCreates an image of an ISO9660 filesystem.
This is the mkisofs package. It is used to create ISO 9660 file system images for creating CD-ROMs. Now includes support for making bootable "El Torito" CD-ROMs.
xcdroast 0.98GPLA GUI program for burning CDs
X-CD-Roast is a program-package dedicated to easy CD creation under most Unix-platforms. It combines command line tools like "cdrecord", "cdda2wav", and "mkisofs" into a nice graphical user interface. Features: Self-explanatory X11 user interface. Automatic SCSI-hardware setup Copies of ISO9660-CDs, some non-ISO9660-CDs, and audio CDs Production of new ISO9660 data CDs ("mastering") Production of new audio CDs Fast copying of CDs without hardisk buffering Logfile option User interface in more than 10 languages
zisofs-tools 1.0.6GPLUtilities to create compressed CD-ROM filesystems.
Tools that, in combination with an appropriately patched version of mkisofs, allow the creation of compressed CD-ROM filesystems.

Logan High [Utah] students have adjusted well to Linux. “I have to turn off the light to let them know it’s time to go home,” says [Russell] Weeks, who runs the computer lab after school. “Sometimes their parents come in to get them.”
