The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a commandline scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet. The programs are based on a shared library distributed with the Clam AntiVirus package, which you can use in your own software. You can build clamav with some conditional build swithes; (ie. use with rpm --rebuild): --with[out] milter Build clamav-milter (default) | ||
| dosfstools 2.11 | GPL | Utilities to create and check MS-DOS FAT filesystems |

| file 4.17 | BSD | A utility for determining file types |
| The file command is used to identify a particular file according to the type of data contained by the file. File can identify many different file types, including ELF binaries, system libraries, RPM packages, and different graphics formats. You should install the file package, since the file command is such a useful utility. | ||
| findutils 4.2.27 | GPL | The GNU versions of find utilities (find and xargs) |
| The findutils package contains programs which will help you locate files on your system. The find utility searches through a hierarchy of directories looking for files which match a certain set of criteria (such as a filename pattern). The xargs utility builds and executes command lines from standard input arguments (usually lists of file names generated by the find command). You should install findutils because it includes tools that are very useful for finding things on your system. | ||
| git 4.3.20 | GPL | A set of GNU Interactive Tools. |
| GIT (GNU Interactive Tools) provides an extensible file system browser, an ASCII/hexadecimal file viewer, a process viewer/killer and other related utilities and shell scripts. GIT can be used to increase the speed and efficiency of copying and moving files and directories, invoking editors, compressing and uncompressing files, creating and expanding archives, compiling programs, sending mail and more. GIT uses standard ANSI color sequences, if they are available. You should install the git package if you are interested in using its file management capabilities. | ||
| gnupg2 1.9.22 | GPL | GNU privacy guard - a free PGP replacement |

| klamav 0.32 | GPL | KDE frontend for the Clam AntiVirus virus scanner |
| KlamAV provides ClamAV protection for the KDE desktop. It includes 'on access' scanning, manual scanning, quarantine management, downloading of updates, mail scanning, and automated installation. | ||
| less 394 | GPL | A text file browser similar to more, but better |
| The less utility is a text file browser that resembles more, but has more capabilities. Less allows you to move backwards in the file as well as forwards. Since less doesn't have to read the entire input file before it starts, less starts up more quickly than text editors (for example, vi). You should install less because it is a basic utility for viewing text files, and you'll use it frequently. | ||
| logrotate 3.7.3 | GPL | Rotates, compresses, and mails system logs |
| Logrotate is designed to ease administration of systems that generate large numbers of log files. It allows automatic rotation, compression, removal, and mailing of log files. Each log file may be handled daily, weekly, monthly, or when it grows too large. | ||

| Midnight Commander is a visual shell much like a file manager, only with way more features. It is text mode, but also includes mouse support if you are running GPM. Its coolest feature is the ability to ftp, view tar, zip files, and poke into RPMs for specific files. :-) | ||
| mktemp 1.5 | BSD | A small utility for safely making /tmp files |
| The mktemp utility takes a given file name template and overwrites a portion of it to create a unique file name. This allows shell scripts and other programs to safely create and use /tmp files. Install the mktemp package if you need to use shell scripts or other programs which will create and use unique /tmp files. | ||
| mkxauth 1.7 | GPL | A utility for managing .Xauthority files |
| The mkxauth utility helps create and maintain X authentication databases (.Xauthority files). Mkxauth is used to create an .Xauthority file or to merge keys from another local or remote .Xauthority file. .Xauthority files are used by the xauth user-oriented access control program, which grants or denies access to X servers based on the contents of the .Xauthority file. The mkxauth package should be installed if you're going to use user-oriented access control to provide security for your X Window System (a good idea). | ||
| mtools 3.9.10 | GPL | Programs for accessing MS-DOS disks without mounting the disks |
| Mtools is a collection of utilities for accessing MS-DOS files. Mtools allow you to read, write and move around MS-DOS filesystem files (normally on MS-DOS floppy disks). | symlinks 1.2 | BSD-style | A utility which maintains a system's symbolic links |
| The symlinks utility performs maintenance on symbolic links. Symlinks checks for symlink problems, including dangling symlinks which point to nonexistent files. Symlinks can also automatically convert absolute symlinks to relative symlinks. Install the symlinks package if you need a program for maintaining symlinks on your system. | ||
| tmpwatch 2.9.7 | GPL | A utility for removing files based on when they were last accessed |
| The tmpwatch utility recursively searches through specified directories and removes files which have not been accessed in a specified period of time. Tmpwatch is normally used to clean up directories which are used for temporarily holding files (for example, /tmp). Tmpwatch ignores symlinks, won't switch filesystems and only removes empty directories and regular files. | ||
| tree 1.5.0 | GPL | A utility which displays a tree view of directory contents |
| The tree utility recursively displays the contents of directories in a tree-like format. Tree is basically a UNIX port of the tree DOS utility. Install tree if you think it would be useful to view the contents of specified directories in a tree-like format. | ||
How many other cases exist where [company] has included third party technology in it products, but has also taken the cheaper licensing option and left developers and even users exposed to the threat of lawsuit? Due to the closed nature of the proprietary business model, how can third party developers even check? — NZheretic on LWN
